Your body is the bridge between the world inside your head and the world you can touch.
What we’re proving is that the bridge goes both ways. You can shape the outside world with your mind. You know this because you’ve already done it. The people reading this have built careers, businesses, families, communities — all from the ground up. They brought something into existence that wasn’t there before.
It’s time to realize that the mind’s inside world is just as malleable. You can build, carve, and create your way into an entirely new mode of thinking.
It will take every inch of you to do it. But you’re not here for easy.
You’re here for what’s possible.
Today, I’m going to help you practice better posture in the most interesting way I know how — by making it a little weird.
Below is a PDF with a Joker-inspired starfish. Per Cuddy’s book, a starfish is a great exemplar of the S.O.S. traits (space, open, straight) we want to embody.1 Go ahead and print it out.
Cut out the starfish and stuff it into one of your pockets for a full workweek. The idea is that every time you put your hand in and feel it, you’ll be reminded to “starfish” (SOS: space out, open up, and straighten).
Bonus: Print out multiple starfish and share the challenge with your family or coworkers. The group dynamic will help keep everyone more accountable!
Oh, and by the way… A happy brain looks good on you.
Keep it up.
